Why do parents tell their kids to cover their eyes during a sex scene in a movie?

Don't they know that when their kids become adults they're gonna be having sex anyway? Also why should the kids cover their eyes, and the parents get to watch it? Hypocritical much? How else would the kids know how to have sex if they never see it on tv? Or never barged in on their parents?
