Why should I go to the doctor before I have sex?

I'm a virgin and my boyfriend and I are thinking about sleeping together... I've never been to the gynecologist. anyway, why is it important for me to go the doctor before having sex for the first time?

Who told you that it was? You don't need to see the doctor before you have sex. If you want, you can go to the doctor to get birth control pills.. but other than that, no - you don't need to see a doctor.
